John Holland senior, a painter of landscapes and coastal scenes, was born in Nottingham c.1805, (fl. 1831 -1879). He exhibited at Sussex Street from c.1861 to 1879, at the British Institution 1865 – 1866, and in his home town of Nottingham.

 A number of his works are held at the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum, 

Birkenhead, at Buxton Museum and at Nottingham Art Gallery.

Condition: Professionally cleaned and restored.Framed in a 19th century gilded wood and composition frame with giltwood slip,
